Blogging and the way it connects me to new interesting things and people doesn't stop amazing me. Last week I got 2 very graceful mails telling me how much they liked and enjoyed reading 'artnlight' (blush, blush) and I quickly checked both the sites and thought this is stuff I MUST share.

Stephan Lagan is from 66degrees.com which is an online gallery for unique and limited edition art and design pieces (this got my ears perked immediately) "66 degrees.com is a social network for collectors and fans of art and design, a springboard for the artists and designers that we feature and a place where they can hopefully increase their exposure and visibility on the global market, AND a store where people have the opportunity to buy limited edition and in some cases one-of-a-kind pieces that we display on our site."

I'm so glad i check what my fav artist/bloggers are doing every once in a while. I went to Christine Mason Miller's site and this is what I saw. This is vintage CMM & all the inspiration I need for the entire month. This woman so blows my mind away by the person she is.

"I believe wisdom is having the awareness of all the questions we can explore in any given situation, I believe it is becoming more at ease with not having absolute answers, I believe it is about choosing to live with integrity when no one is watching, living by my highest standards regardless of the choices those around me make"

History, is priceless. It gives us people whom we have no way of knowing, its shows us their lives as examples, as inspiration. And if you need comfort from people who have been there done it, it gives you that in all glorious detail. One of histories many gifts is William Morris, who is very close to my heart as he was an artist with many definitions and therefore bound by none. His art went where his passions went and he was an architect, furniture & textile designer, poet and socialist. I have often wondered, envied and looked wistfully at people who found that one passion and all their life went into honing that into perfection. But William Morris is someone who lived a life where there was space and scope to go and develop all the different things he wanted to do. He just did what he wanted :)

"For several years after his marriage Morris was absorbed in two intimately connected occupations: 1, the building and decoration of a house for himself and Jane, and 2, the foundation of a firm of decorators who were also artists, with the view of reinstating decoration, down to its smallest details, as one of the fine arts.

Morris was producing repeating patterns for wallpaper as early as 1862, and some six years later he designed his first pattern specifically for fabric printing. As in so many other areas that interested him, Morris chose to work with the ancient technique of hand woodblock printing in preference to the roller printing which had almost completely replaced it for commercial uses.
By 1883, Morris wrote "Almost all the designs we use for surface decoration, wallpapers, textiles, and the like, I design myself. I have had to learn the theory and to some extent the practice of weaving, dyeing and textile printing: all of which I must admit has given me and still gives me a great deal of enjoyment."

"Morris taught himself embroidery, working with wool on a frame custom-built from an old example, and once he had mastered the technique he trained his wife Jane and her sister Bessie Burden and others to execute designs to his specifications."I've been Tagged again. And this time by talented fingers Embellisher, by the hugely interesting Krista of Luminous Life & by artistic Megha of Arth and Nitya. (If u are interested in reading my previous tagged entry click here) There have been a couple of others who've tagged me & my apologies to them for not linking them here. The deal is this- I need to put down here 7 random things about myself & tag fellow bloggers and keep all concerned in the loop. So here's my list :)
I'm constantly thinking of travelling. I'm happiest planning a trip, a weekend, a month, a year a lifetime full of travel. Take me to a new place. Make me happy.

I am Rajasthan obsessed. I will be going there soon for a 2nd time. I just know I will keep travelling to Rajasthan till I die and never have enough :) :)

I can speak 5 different (Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Gujrati) Indian Languages and not a single foreign one. English in my head is not foreign, its the language I think in.
Net junkie, that is me. I can spend 24x7 in front of the comp. But I've consciously been taking it easy & therefore not blogging or flickering as often as I used to :)
This year has been all about change for me, I cut my long curly hair & coloured it. Im also a lot more 'dressy' now & am actually wearing some of the loads of jewellery that I own.
I used to be such a digital art person & that is changing. Whatever had to happen had to happen on the computer, but these days I find myself very drawn to 3d art, where I need to put things together, stick them, I find myself obsessed with texture & material and juxtaposition. Scrapbooking inspires me hugely & I'm forever drooling over Ali Edwards & Anahata Katkin. I have already done one piece of 3d art for my friend which i will feature soon here, so look out for it :)

And as I write this post, the hottest news is that I'm the owner of a brand new Canon DSLR :) My flickr won't languish anymore & oh maann how i missed having a camera. Its an update from one tagged to another, cause in my last tagged post I had actually asked you guys to help me figure whether I should pick a DSLR or just go for a high end point and shoot. You'll be seeing a lot of my photographs in the forthcoming posts & that's a promise.I now tag fellow bloggers whom I've grown to like and whose work I admire: Felicia of 'near and far', Joanna D of LotusHaus, Prashant Bhardwaj of Chai ki Dukaan and Jessica Gonacha of 'treasuring'.
