What started last night continues, its been 18 hours now and the terrorists are still holding so many people to ransom. Deaths, injuries, but above all there is this overwhelming sensation of helplessness, anger. It's so many centuries since we've 'evolved' from the neanderthal man. And where is the evolution?
I promised myself I wouldn't rant here. So I won't. Instead here are some images of peace. From across the world. From different flickr streams. Just look at his face.

Thank you for finding and sharing the beautiful photos...we all need to think of peace....some more than others.

Statues, photos and temples of Buddha has always evoked a sense of serenity and peace for me. This is exactly what we need in this time: peace.
My heart goes out to all those whose family or friends are involved in this nightmare of violence and brutality.
You're right, there's no point ranting about how inhumane we have become. All we can do is pray that peace comes back to the city. Take care.
Vineeta,
What a beautiful and wise response to the tragedy that has been brought about by unconscious humans.
May all beings know peace
May all beings know love
May all beings know freedom
love & light

Art4sol, you bet some more than others...
John, That is the point, I have seen so many of my normally cheerful friends just go into a shocked depressed silence almost. We are just dumbfounded by what is happening & it is hearbreaking. I love your quote, Thanx so much for it!
Priyanka, Yes, watching the television gives us an idea of the extent of devastation......
I really wish Buddha power prevails.
Bhumika, yes. Amen to that.
Krista, i really wish for us all that you wrote. Fingers arms, legs crossed & praying. Let there be sense. Let there be peace.
Glad to know that you are safe. We are shocked and can't believe that the images on TV are from Mumbai. Thanks for the very appropriate post. God bless Mumbai. Be safe. Dee.
Thanks for the post V. Where else does one turn to in horrifying times like these?
Dee, thanx for the wishes. We were ourselves watching it in horror, unfortunately for us it is right in the middle of our lives. Oberoi Hotel is bang opposite my office.
Chandan, that is such a big question. The only place one turns towards is ourselves. Eyes upward and knees on the floor. That is where we will get all our courage & all the understanding that one needs to not turn bitter and hard under the circumstances.
But if you ask me, I find myself on one hand tempted to fly into a rage, and on the other protecting my peace/happiness. Because the fact is anger or peace is our reaction & we can always choose how we want to be.
Such soothing images Vineeta.
I am glad it's over but I feel such sadness. Yesterday when I lit a candle for our heroes I felt anger at what had happened but like you said...it is how we choose to react is upto us.
