Radha Krishna Munny!!

I just HAD to share this!!! In these days of Androgynous hipness please meet the ultimate example-RadhaKrishna Munny- a vinyl toy and a hybrid between Krishna & Radha! Designed for a contest, the super talented oo-nyx-oo has handmade all the accessories. I saw it on my friend Peggy's blog 'Creative Influences'. Peggy apart from being an artist has a love for all things ceramic and is quite the pottery connoisseur. She also loves urban vinyl toys. And if it were not for that we would never have seen this piece of wonder!

It's cute, but the gender-bending part makes me too uncomfortable to want to own it.

eternal voyageur, I can understand your discomfort- but if theres any god/godess who lends themself to this kind of a fusion it has to be Radha & krishna- its just that they are in 2 different forms. In north India they say 'Radhekrishna' & believe that where Radha is- Krishna HAS to be there. So this kind of oneness is somehow becoming (I feel) and We are the land of the famous Ardhanareeshwara- where Shiva and Parvati halves form one single body. And the beauty of art is in pushing the envelope and thinking what no one has thought before. Thats the whole fun of it :)

Vineeta! Thanks for the plug! I adore this little doll. I do hope Kidrobot will produce this, and others by oo-nyx-oo. I would love to have a Lord Ganesha produced by her. Hmm. Maybe I should commission her....

I was very interested in eternalvoyageur's comment on the gender bending. I really didn't think of this, as I tend in my naivte to think of Hindu gods/goddesses as parts of a whole. I love designer toys, but my squeemishness comes out with the violent or bloody ones. I like the glamorous and cute ones.

I hope oo-nyx-oo receives lots of attention for her marvelous work!

Ardhanareeshwara is well known but seeing the Radha-Krishna is awesome.

I feel gender is a physical thing and every man has a woman in side and every woman has a man inside, I think creativity and sensitivity is faminine !

Wow, you are all so sweet! I never imagined when I made her that she would have half of the reaction that she did! Unfortunately, my Munny didn't take the top prize but I did get an honorable mention. Part of that prize is a new blank Munny so I will have a brand new piece soon!
About the gender-bending, I never really thought of it as an issue because they aren't human. And like someone mentioned, they are always together - and this is the ultimate togetherness!
Peggy, I was actually thinking that my next Munny might be Ganesha.
Thank you all for your kind remarks, it really made my day to read them :)
PS- If anyone is in the NY area, she will be on display at The Focal Point Gallery on City Island Ave in the Bronx starting on Sept. 5th. I will also have a full size munny, another mini munny and a 3 inch dunny on display. Please check it out if you are in the area!!
