Anniversary!! Artnlight turns 5! :)

Artnlight completes 5 years today. 5 years of seeing any new & nice thing & only thinking of putting it up here. 5 years of seeing a nice thing & because it is personal & private to me or someone else, being frustrated that I can't post about it here. When I started blogging in a blur of love, I never thought I will be doing it with equal excitement 5 years down the line. Infact I just didn't think. I just wanted to have a blog of mine so bad, that I started. Like every big decision in my life, this blog too happened because no thought was possible in the face of the beauty & headiness of it. There have been times when I have wanted and taken my time away from here, only to come back with more eagerness & even obsessiveness. 5 years of finding time, making time in my craziest busy times, sad times, happy times to post something here. I know I haven't been a regular blogger, but what I do here has sustained me in my darkest hours. But most amazingly it has changed me. From closed to open, from an employee to an entrepreneur, from 'I don't know how this will work' to 'lets just try it & what if it does'. And it is this space has given that to me & it is all of you who've come back to read this blog who have given that to me.
It is with a lot of gratitude that I sit to put this post together. Gratitude for the people whom I met through this blog whose work has changed my work, whose way of seeing something has changed mine.  Gratitude to all of you who have encouraged me just by coming here & reading what I write, to each one of you who have stopped & taken the time out to comment. I can't tell you enough how much that has meant to me & how it has kept me going. I just want this month to be a very exciting time for the artnlight reader and I will try my best to make it so for you with Anniversary posts which have a give-away or just some special news for all of you. So I wrote to a few people who have walked this journey with me, who have been special to me & inspired me and asked if they would like to make a post or be featured here.

Kickstarting this month of celebrating ARTNLIGHT is Dithi Mukherjee the artist whose work has me in awe.She has a new blog called Dithitara which all of you MUST check out :)

I have never met her in the offline world, and yet the connection I feel with her is more real than many friendships I have made. We have only spoken on the phone and mail- many mails:) I had asked her if she would like to put together something that is close to her heart and anything that inspires her. And you will see how her post is as poetic as her work. Handing it over to Dithi Mukherjee.
Here’s my little token of gratitude for you Vineeta, for being an inspiration and for bringing to us a world of beauty, on the 5 year anniversary of Artnlight: some images from home (taken in Kolkata and Shantiniketan); moments that embody the light and beauty that i draw strength from, the core that helps me express.
Art is the Light ~ a sufi song that transports the mind, frees the heart and heals the soul.
Ribbons and threads of gold gleams in the warmth of a setting summer Sun,
dancing in the gentle breeze, fertile with the smell of Ganga that wafts through a Kolkata ghat.

Bowls of red thick with the love of a thousand Kalighat Joba blooms, with alta, pola and sindur.
(Bengali: Joba: hibiscus, alta: red pigment traditionally used to adorn the feet of married Bengali women, sindur: vermillion,
Hibiscus has a special significance in Kalighat as it is the chosen bloom to be offered to Maa Kali)

‘The places you see, the things you make and the people you meet will fuel you forever.’ They also say that ‘when the student is ready, the teacher appears’ (Buddhist proverb). For all of us who are lucky to know and learn from you Vineeta & your Artnlight, for me personally, you water the seeds of beauty in our consciousness with all that you make and with all that you share. Thank you for inspiring and thanks for holding my/our hand(s) as we unfold our own myths, as we explore our own individual journeys. Keep shining and spread the love, let it grow and make you complete.

Dithi, thank you for this beautiful post & the generous give away. Yes :) you can now win this Dithi Print called 'Away from Home'.
And to win this give away all you need to do is:

Congratulations once again, Vineeta! I love Artnlight because it was one of the first blogs that opened my eyes to the possibilities and wonders of decoupage. I fell in love with your work and often dream about experimenting but haven't got around to it yet. Someday, I tell myself :)

I've been a fan of Dithi's for a while and am already a FB fan.

Happy anniversary! Looking forward to this month on the blog.

Happy Anniversary and wish you many more wonderful ones.

It's hard to decide which of the decoupaged products I like best because all of them are beautiful in their own way. I do love your home decor projects and think you did a fabulous job on all of them. Avni Varma's home is my dream home now :)

Been a follower of Dhithi's work for a long time now. She is super talented.

This giveaway is rather apt for me right now since I am away for home for the next couple of years and I'd be over the moon if I did win it. Fingers crossed :)

The way I believe~ Old is gold, Old is bold, Old is Beautiful...! May this blog stand the 3Old gems for it in the future years to come..!

Dont be shocked if I say I visited your blog today.. esp my favorite~ the posts on Leenata Shah's home decor and workspace, and the couple of other links which I always loved browsing on A&L... I like A&L not just because its colourful.. Its energetic, inspiring and more so encouraging..! I came to know you VN through A&L blog (via Rang Decor of Arch), met you in FB as friend, got one stuff from your creations and wish to meet you in person a day.. The positivity in you reflects in your work whether decoupaged stuffs or this blog..! Nonetheless I need to say I am an admirer of you and your work..!

Back to this post, I know you and Dithi as offline friends and wish I meet her too..! Her work is amazing.. I met her through her work on Etsy and then on Deezen and now on FB as Dithi the person..! Hugs to her from Bangalore..! Her paintings always made me fall in love for them, jaw-locked and speechless..Not only me, but CSH (my bitter half_ also likes her work.. Wish one day I own one of her paintings..(when I have a big house).. and of course the wishing worm is tickling my brain now saying me that "Wish I win this give away of Deezen through Artnlight"

First, big congratulations!

It's so difficult talking about ONE thing that I like the most about artnlight, there are so many! But I think it would have to watching your journey from being an art director to an independent artist. Your first decoupaged boxes, your first exhibition stand shared with a friend, your first time at Buzzallong last year...oh my God so many moments that made me go aww.
And the other funny thing is how our FB mutual friend list is growing, from school friends like riddhika and university friends like shimauli to excolleagues like Payal, you seem to know them all! : D

Congratulations Vineeta ! I love all your posts and the homes of your friends. My favorites are ur decoupaged trays and boxes. both are adorning my home at this moment and love that your pieces have a lot of personality !

Dear Vineeta, congratulations on the 5th anniversary of your blog. As for what I like in your blog, it's difficult to say, since I like everything - your work, your interviews with some of my favourite people, the colour, but most of all I admire your courage to follow your heart and that is not an easy thing to do, so here's to many many more colourful years of Artnlight.

As for Dithi's work - love it and liked her FB page a long time ago.

Cheers!!

Vineeta

First of all, congrats on this milestone!

The only thing I have ever won in my life is 2kgs of chicken(!!!); and so given my past track record, or lack of it, I am not even expecting that stunning give-away! :)

I have known you longer than I have known ArtnLight and the first thing that struck me when we met is that heart-warming smile of yours and the fact that in a field where anyone with even a bit of talent considers himself God's gift to mankind, you were such a breath of fresh air because you were humble, grounded and genuine and lacked any pretence inspite of being so immensely talented! You have this ability to inspire people and make them feel special and that is what is so amazing about you!

I have told you many a times how much I love your work and your blog. On days when things go wrong (and there have been quite a few of those) or when I am exhausted or bogged down or just want to give up, I sometimes come and check out your posts. No matter how dejected I have arrived, the beauty and the positivity in each of your posts always make me feel better about the world when I leave! I am sure my hubby would thank you too as my visiting ArtnLight to feel better works out much cheaper on his pocket than retail therapy! :)

So, wish you many more successes and grander, more memorable milestones in future! And I hope to earn enough to be the proud owner of a few more Vineeta Nair creations!
Loads of love!
Moush

Congratulations on the creative milestone Vineeta.
I ran into Vineeta's blog by accident and pretty much glanced through it in a rush. It seemed interesting, the content was good and the quality was great and the pictures were treat to the eyes and i knew it surely called for a leisure reading.

That was the just a start and its hasn't stopped. Ever since its been a journey of learning about design , of enhancing my primitive interior decorating skills, of discovering the subdued interest in interiors, of learning about the writer, artist and now in conclusion admitting its sheer talent flowing.

Vineeta's radiance shine's through her blog! Good work and keep it up!

Ain't I glad I chanced upon you blog some months and moons ago? Am a poet and a writer but it is art that drives me to write words like patterns intricately designed to read like a painting, a look like a collage, to feel like a texture woven into syllables. Your blog brought me closer home. it gave me the burst of colors and creativity I have always craved for. it fueled my imagination and satisfied my urge to visit stores in search of something that could feed the eyes of my soul. Need I say more? Each artist you showcased, I am sure, has grown multi-fold, in admiration, buyers and ensuing fan-following due to the platform you brought them to, your blog. Vineeta, I am glad, glad, nay, delighted to be a part of this wonderful eye-solace, this emporia of art. I have liked Dithi's fanpage on facebook, for there was more than one reason too. You recommend and I follow.. and when I follow I fall in love is what happened! ;) I certainly am one who desires and yearns for that awesome print you have made me set my eyes on, please please don't disappoint me!! :):)

Thank you for doing what you do :)

I found out about Dithi's work through your blog easlier..and now I am finding her faceook page through you again.

Also, the give away is so gorgeous! as I get ready to get married in October, this piece is totally apt. Would love to own it and let it share a space in 'my home away from home'.

Dear Vineeta, first of all, heartiest congratulations to all of us! To you, for your unceasing, inspired, inspiring bright, glossy work and to us for getting this wonderful opportunity to have access to some of the most brilliant designs and designers, artworks and artists. I guess, art breeds art and you have been detrimental in my going on to enhance my home decor, the looks of which often send visitors going gaga over it! All thanks to you. How?
It had not been many days when I had begun facebooking when I came across your blog. I managed to pick up some super art works for relatives and friends, for myself too, and suggest the wonderful sites put up by you to my awed visitors and friends, bhabhis and nanads. ;) You know how it is in India, people swoon and die to get more, they aspire for a better something than what they laid their eyes on.
I also utilised some of the ideas that came to my mind, strongly inspired from the concepts of the designs you had shown in some of your posts, that helped me do up my rooms much more vibrantly, making them more homely and inviting. So please keep up the good work that you are doing, I am more than happy with it. And a little secret ;) ~ I love the freebie ideas (the give-aways) that you arrange. *grins* :D
Simply because it pushes me closer to the artist and once you get their stuff in hand, you are all the more inclined, almost a desperado, to lay your hands on more of the goodie stuff! I have ofcourse, already, yes, the moment I had my eyes on it, clicked like to Dithi's page. :)
Am sure, you won't keep me away from Dithi's print design this time.. I am praying it gets to be all mine! :)

5 years is a chunk of time. If Artnlight was your daughter she would be singing songs, drawing pictures sticking her tongue out while coloring, enjoying playing on a swing ... A radiant, sweet and happy girl, with her eyes wide open to catch and savour all the beauty of the world around her.
But for me your blog is even more than that - it is one of the routes in my travel to India. Contemporary India, looking back on its huge heritage with the sensitive eyes of an independent, modern woman artist. It is more than "just" designs, it shows your personality - in a place, changing over time. I think that for you it is a journey as well - only you travel to your internal India, the source and inspiration for your creativity. Thank you for sharing it.
Magdalena from the heart of Europe :)
P.S. I will "like" Dithi´s page - it was through her Deezden blog that I came across to Artnlight :) And, by the way, I love Mora designs too, you, Dithi, Ritika, seem to be like a family of beautiful creative souls with this huge, poetic sensitivity to color, light and life :)

I visit your blog everyday, hoping some new post, some new series..something new will come up and make me smile!
Keep up that good work :)
may your art light up our lives with light!
Congratulation on your baby celebrating 5 years- she's beautiful and a source of endless inspiration!

Congratulations Vineeta! There are so many things that I really like about your blog from the name to the way its composed but the one thing that I really really love about your blod is the side snippets of notes that you compose besides each picture explaining it. That is so cool and chic. It just makes the picture with the notes look as a whole collage or an art in itself. Very very cool.

Well I am not too much of a blog-savvy girl or probably my 2 year kid keeps mme so busy that I dont get enough time to browse the internet. So this is the first time I am actually seeing Dithi's work and I am already a huge fan of her work. The way she has put the poems in her artwork is so so creative.

Happy Anniversary once again. Kepp up the good work.

What I like about artnlight? First, how you effortlessly brought together passion and profit, two seemingly contradictory entities, by way of your entrepreneurial effort. Second, beautiful homes that made me transform my house into a home. Third, the stunning pics which I turn to when seeking solace from the ratrace. You taught me there is nothing wrong with painting life with vibrant colours; rather, that's the way to be!
Believe it or not, 100% honest. :)
Happy anniversary and here's to many many more inspiring ones!
